Reaching the Blue State Mindset

What are the missional challenges involved in reaching communities that tend to vote democratic rather than republican, have a higher percentage of the population who don't attend church, and have a more negative view of the church? This is an important part of the harvest field in the United States. How can we be more effective in reaching it with the gospel?
About Ken:
Ken Wilson is the senior pastor of Vineyard Church of Ann Arbor and serves on the Vineyard national board. Ken is the author of Jesus Brand Spirituality: He Wants His Religion Back (Thomas Nelson, April 2008) and co-author with Rich Nathan of Empowered Evangelicals (Ampelon, May 2008). He is a participant of Scientists & Evangelicals United to Protect Creation, a bridge building effort between environmental scientists and evangelical leaders. Ken is married to Nancy and the father of five.
